I recently gave my primary bedroom a quick refresh with just three simple changes. When you are craving change, sometimes all it takes is a few key updates. Let’s discuss how effective it can be to just focus on these 3 elements to refresh your bedroom — the power of a new rug, new art, and new bedding/pillows.
1. Rug Revival: A whole new mood
First up, let’s talk rugs. A new rug can instantly tie a room together, adding warmth, texture, and visual interest to your space. I opted for a plush, soft rug to add to the cozy factor of our room. Size matters! Choose a size that fits your space – ideally, your rug should extend beyond the sides of your bed to anchor the space. Make sure your rug extends at least 18″ beyond the sides of your bed (no matter the size of the bed). Whether you prefer a classic neutral hue or a bold pop of color, there’s a rug out there to suit your style and budget. I wanted to tie in the warmth of our wood ceilings so went with a darker rug. Our bed is a California King – our rug is 9×12. I found it here.
2. Artistic Accents: Personalized Touches
Next – changing the art on your walls can be a quick and impactful way to refresh a space. Here are a few ideas for hanging art above your bed: (1) Hang a large statement piece above your bed, (2) a gallery wall filled with your favorite prints and photographs, or (3) do what I did and find 2 frames that work nicely together. I actually find my frames at a thrift store. I did not like the art so I made my own! Adding your own art, art YOU sourced and/or art you love infuses some of your personality into your room.
3. Bedding
Last but certainly not least, let’s talk bedding. Your bed is usually the focal point of your bedroom, so why not make it luxurious? Soft and high quality bedding does not have to break the bank! Click here for the cooling linen sheets I found for my bed. I recommend a set of crisp, breathable sheets in a neutral color palette. Then, layer on a cozy duvet or quilt and add decorative pillows and throws for added texture and visual interest. Mix and match different patterns, textures, and fabrics to create a look that’s both stylish and inviting. And don’t forget the finishing touches – a few strategically placed throw pillows and a beautiful throw blanket can take your bedding from ordinary to extraordinary in an instant. The pillow are all from my shop.
In conclusion, refreshing your primary bedroom doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. With just three simple changes – a new rug, new art, and new bedding/pillows – you can create a space that’s both stylish and inviting, a true reflection of your personal style and personality. Hope this helps!
